Privacy & Security

Many organisations have trialled ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude and have experienced the power of generative AI. However, for a large number of businesses there is significant concern that these foundational models harvest user data. As a consequence there has been a reluctance for many organisations to use them until greater clarity around privacy and security has been addressed

The Need For AI planning

Sendient has a strong pedigree in privacy and security. This has fuelled our desire to build processes and platforms that are able to unlock the power of Generative AI, yet still preserve privacy and security at all times. The Sendient team have benchmarked all major Large Language Models, including those from OpenAI, Google, Meta, Anthropic and X. During this activity, we carefully review how data is transmitted, stored and purged from these LLMs and we have built robust approaches to maximise security. Many of these LLMs are accessible through hyperscale cloud providers, and these entities deliver enhanced Data Processing Agreements, that significantly reduce the privacy and security concerns around GenAI.

Sendient is actively building GenAI solutions for clients using opensource LLMs, such as LLAMA2 from Meta. These models can be deployed in private environments, with full security and privacy controls being managed by either the customer or by Sendient. In parallel, Sendient is also rolling out solutions within the Microsoft OpenAI service, all of which can be accessed through a private VPN, and with no data ever leaving the clients environment. Both approaches are delivering significant value to organisations, and both deployments have been architected with privacy and security as the primary consideration.

Key privacy and security considerations when integrating with a foundational LLM

In an era where data privacy and security concerns loom large, organisations must not only harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) but also ensure that AI solutions are developed and deployed with utmost regard for privacy and security. At Sendient, we recognise that trust is the bedrock of successful AI adoption. That's why we specialise in delivering AI services that prioritise privacy and security, safeguarding our clients' data and fostering confidence in AI-driven innovations. Let's delve into how we focus on this critical aspect:

1. Adherence to Data Protection Regulations

There are numerous regulations around the world that focus on data privacy, and consequently organisations need to ensure that any LLM integration project is not misaligned to these standards. Sendient understands the complex web of data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union and the Data Protection Act in the UK. We deliver Artificial Intelligence services that are in strict compliance with these regulations, ensuring that personal data is processed lawfully, transparently, and for legitimate purposes. By adhering to stringent data protection standards, Sendient mitigates the risk of regulatory non-compliance and safeguard our clients against potential fines and reputational damage.

2. Privacy by Design Approach

Sendient has a strong pedigree in data privacy and security. It is embedded into the very fabric of our AI solutions and service offerings. We embrace a privacy by design approach, where privacy considerations are integrated into every stage of the AI development lifecycle. From initial design and architecture to deployment and beyond, we employ privacy-preserving techniques such as data anonymisation, encryption, and access controls to minimise the risk of data breaches and unauthorised access. By proactively addressing privacy concerns from the outset, we empower our clients to leverage AI with confidence, knowing that their sensitive information is protected.

Security breaches can have catastrophic consequences, ranging from financial loss to irreparable damage to brand reputation. That's why Sendient prioritises robust data security measures in all our AI services. Our team of consultants are trained in cyber security best practices, and only recommend approaches that stand up to rigorous security assessment. Through regular security audits, vulnerability assessments and penetration tests, we continuously monitor and strengthen our defence mechanisms, staying one step ahead of evolving cyber threats.

4. AI and Ethics

AI has the ability to supercharge organisations growth in profound ways, but with great power comes great responsibility. Sendient is committed to upholding ethical AI principles that prioritise fairness, transparency, and accountability. We encourage rigorous ethical assessments of all AI algorithms and models, ensuring that they do not perpetuate bias or discrimination against any individual or group. By fostering a culture of ethical AI within the organisation and with our partners, we strive to promote trust and confidence in AI technologies.

5. Continuous Monitoring and Compliance
